An established architectural practice is looking to appoint an experienced Conservation Architect to join its growing team in Ireland.

The practice works across architecture, conservation and heritage-led projects, with a strong focus on the sensitive repair, adaptation and reuse of historic buildings.

About the Role

This is an exciting senior opportunity for an RIAI Grade 1 Conservation Architect to play a key role in developing and expanding the practice’s conservation work.

You will provide specialist conservation expertise across historic buildings, protected structures and adaptive reuse projects, working closely with clients, consultants and wider design teams from early appraisal through to completion.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead conservation input across a range of heritage and adaptive reuse projects
• Provide specialist advice on repair, restoration and sensitive intervention
• Prepare conservation reports, statements of significance and heritage impact assessments
• Undertake condition surveys and advise on historic building fabric
• Support planning submissions and statutory consultation
• Develop appropriate repair strategies using traditional materials and methods
• Advise clients, consultants and design teams on conservation legislation and best practice
• Lead conservation work from initial appraisal through to site delivery
• Collaborate with wider architectural, planning, sustainability and design teams
• Mentor junior staff and help develop conservation knowledge within the practice
• Support bids, fee proposals, client presentations and new business opportunities

About You

• RIAI Grade 1 Conservation Architect accreditation
• Registered Architect in Ireland
• Senior Architect, Associate or Associate Director-level experience
• Strong experience in conservation, heritage, protected structures and adaptive reuse
• Good knowledge of Irish conservation legislation, planning policy and statutory processes
• Strong understanding of historic building fabric, pathology and traditional construction
• Experience preparing conservation reports and heritage impact assessments
• Confident advising clients and design teams at a senior level
• Excellent written, technical and report-writing skills
• Experience managing projects, fees, programmes and consultant teams
• Commercially aware with an interest in developing conservation services and winning new work
• Revit and AutoCAD experience is desirable
