About the Company

This award-winning practice is one of the world’s most respected design, engineering and project management consultancies in the world and are seeking a Project Director of Building Design to work on an exciting mega project in KSA. This will be the world’s largest downtown projects, tapping into culture, commercial spaces and residences.

About the Role

You will have a minimum of 20 years’ experience and will assist the Programme Director in the management of this mega project in Riyadh, KSA. You will have experience working on complex, high-profile projects and will draw on your existing major projects experience, monitoring the project direction and coordinating throughout the project life-cycle to project completion. Experience in bespoke, high-rise buildings is a must.

About You

You will be accountable for the end-to-end leadership, management and delivery of this project, including timeliness, quality, risk management, project financial performance and scope management. You will oversee the financial management, client management and project delivery and have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact with clients, team members, and senior management. You must demonstrate that you are able to lead and navigate complex, multi-disciplinary teams and hold a track record of building, leading and organising a multi-national organisation.  

  • You will be accountable for the successful close out of commercial fee and contractual negotiations with the Client and their representative
  • Accountable for the establishment of the project, including resourcing from Delivery Centres and Offices, project set up, work breakdown structure, program development, milestone establishment, scope changes and variations
  • Build and lead whole project delivery team, securing required resources
  • Ensure project delivery activity is in line with Company standards and client expectations
  • Ensure effective closeout and debrief occurs with Client, Client Relationship Executive
  • Be resilient with a “can do” attitude and able to work under pressure
  • Be collaborative and able to work across regional and business boundaries
  • Be an inspirational leader and set standards by example, to motivate the project team
  • Be focused on delivering to agree objectives and standards
  • Assert independent views and challenge when appropriate
  • Willing to challenge the status quo
  • Accountable for the P/L of the project 
  • Have an excellent understanding of Risk and commercial acumen
  • Review and submit monthly PSR
  • Review Project budget at the start of the project
  • Conduct Monthly Financial Review with the team and present to Senior Management  

Education and Experience 

  • Master’s Degree in engineering or architecture from a reputed institution
  • Proven experience in leading on large multi-disciplinary projects or running a programme of works, in design or construction environment
  • Iconic or landmark project deliveries to be specifically highlighted in CV
  • Experience of leading a business and having responsibility for a P&L account
  • Ability to influence for results
  • Experience in the planning, managing and successfully delivering on projects involving numerous stakeholders
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools
  • Thorough understand of local standards, Approving Authority processes
