About the Company

An established and highly regarded architectural practice specialising in traditional and classical architecture, contextual design and conservation-led projects.

The practice has an extensive portfolio spanning high-end private residential, historic buildings, commercial developments and large-scale masterplanning. Their work combines considered architectural design with a strong understanding of traditional detailing, craftsmanship and the sensitive adaptation of existing buildings.

With a collaborative studio environment and a strong pipeline of projects, this is an opportunity to join a practice delivering distinctive, design-led architecture across London and the UK.

About the Role

The practice is looking to appoint an experienced Project Architect to join its London team, taking a lead role in the technical development and delivery of a number of high-end residential and heritage projects.

You will work on a varied portfolio of bespoke schemes, including the sensitive refurbishment and extension of Grade II listed properties, luxury residential interiors and substantial private estates.

Current projects include the transformation of a prestigious listed London property into a bespoke residential and entertaining space, alongside the extensive redevelopment of a historic country estate to create a contemporary family home.

A number of projects are progressing through planning and will shortly require leadership through the technical design and construction stages. You will take responsibility for coordinating project information, managing consultant teams and ensuring design intent is maintained through to delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical development and delivery of projects across the relevant RIBA work stages.
  • Take responsibility for projects progressing from planning into technical design and construction.
  • Produce and coordinate detailed technical drawings, specifications and construction information.
  • Manage and coordinate external consultants, contractors and wider project teams.
  • Ensure projects comply with relevant UK Building Regulations, planning requirements and conservation considerations.
  • Work closely with clients and senior team members to develop and deliver project requirements.
  • Maintain design quality and attention to detail throughout the technical and construction stages.
  • Manage project programmes, resources and deadlines.
  • Attend client meetings, consultant meetings and site visits.
  • Identify opportunities to incorporate sustainable design principles and improve building performance.

About You

  • ARB-registered Architect with a minimum of 5 years’ post-qualification experience.
  • Strong experience working within a UK architectural practice.
  • Demonstrable experience delivering projects through technical design and construction stages.
  • Experience working on high-end residential projects.
  • Knowledge of traditional architectural detailing and construction methods.
  • Experience working with listed buildings, heritage properties or complex refurbishment projects would be advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of UK Building Regulations, planning requirements and construction processes.
  • Confident coordinating consultants, contractors and client teams.
  • Excellent technical, organisational and communication skills.
  • Proactive approach with the ability to take ownership of projects and work independently.

Benefits

  • 21 days’ annual leave, increasing with length of service, plus public holidays.
  • Christmas office closure and additional discretionary leave.
  • Contributory pension scheme, with a 4% employer contribution.
  • Private medical insurance and Personal Health Cash Plan.
  • Group life assurance.
  • 24-hour confidential Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Professional membership subscriptions covered, including ARB, RIBA and CIAT.
  • Agile and flexible working arrangements.
  • Enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption pay (subject to eligibility).
  • Cycle to Work scheme and interest-free season ticket loans.
  • Discretionary annual bonus based on individual performance and company profitability.
  • Ongoing training, mentoring and professional development opportunities.
  • Regular studio activities, professional groups and social events.
  • Right to work in the UK is essential.
